SHALOM - PEACE BE WITH YOU!

www.classiccalligraphy.com
There are so many things that disturb our peace in the world today!
Flooding, bombs, wars and so on!
What can we do?

Start with our patch, our neighbours, our friends!

Gandhi said: “you must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

New Years Resolutions Time Again!

www.pinterest.com
I've not been too bad keeping last year's resolutions. Well, all except exercise! Why is this so difficult? Every year, up it comes again. (I've bought an exercise bike now - it's in the shed!)
What about the above list? Great fun reporting back next year - did I stay "weird" and happy?
Did I write that book? We'll see!!

For more on New Year's Relolutions check out Vicky Bullen's page at the link below:

Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good. So, what can we find that's good?

I've an "attitude" problem about plastic - I use it but wish I didn't - I want alternatives, answers! I found some good info about mealworms digesting plastic, just like composting it - see my blog 13.10.15, and then on Euronews the following:

Cheese Waste Turned into Plastic

Huffingtonpost.can

Researchers in Catalonia, Spain, have invented a process that turns cheese waste into recyclable plastic food packaging. This new plastic is made using whey protein – a by-product formed in the production of cheese – and is biodegradable.

The whey collected from cheese-making is filtered and spray-dried to extract the pure whey protein. This is then used in several thin layers to create plastic film for food packaging, which is both air-tight and water-resistant. With the help of enzymes, the product dissolves easily in water.

Biodegradable plastic - that's wonderful!
But what's wrong with plastic?

Plastic pollution

Plastic pollution involves the accumulation of plastic products in the environment that adversely affects wildlife, wildlife habitat, and humans. The prominence of plastic pollution is correlated with plastics being inexpensive and durable, however, it is slow to degrade. Plastic pollution can unfavorably affect lands, waterways and oceans. Living organisms, particularly marine animals, can also be affected through entanglement, direct ingestion of plastic waste, or through exposure to chemicals within plastics that cause interruptions in biological functions. Humans are also affected by plastic pollution, such as through the disruption of the thyroid hormone axis or hormone levels.

AND FOR THE NEXT GOOD NEWS STORY!

Dutch saltwater potatoes offer hope

for world's hungry

A small field on an island off the Netherlands' northern coast promises one answer to the problem of how to feed the world's ever-growing population: potatoes and other crops that grow in saltwater.

Every day, swathes of farmland somewhere in the world become unusable because of salty soil, but farmers on windswept Texel are finding solutions using traditional methods.

The experiments do not just target potatoes, but also look at how other crops grow in saltwater, including carrots, strawberries, onions and lettuce.

Well.........................I think these good news stories are so exciting and are showing us how to get on with living on this planet Earth. We may mess up a bit but I believe there is a God out there who cares about us and will guide us, if we'll let Him! The Bible says He will guide us along the best pathway for our lives, and will advise us and watch over us.
(Psalm 32 v 8 New Living Translation)

Let me know what you think about all this and in the meantime every blessing for 2016!
LOVE, TRACEY
